For Barbara Wolf, artist is not so much a profession as a state of being from which there is no escape. At ten years of age she knew art would consume her life. Her first oil was painted at fourteen. Enthralled by Art History, particularly the historical development of techniques, she devoured the writings of Cennino Cennini, Leonardo da Vinci, and Giorgio Vasari. She has always considered archival integrity as important as composition and technique. Those who see her classical still life paintings are immediately captivated by her ability to express detail more finely than a photograph, to let viewers feel with their eyes the delicate gold thread of a tapestry or the soft plush of velvet. A native Coloradoan, Barbara received her BFA from Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in Denver. She currently lives in Greeley, painting and giving private lessons in her studio in Loveland. Her egg tempera and oil paintings are in private and corporate collections throughout the United States. Exhibitions include such prestigious shows as Catharine Lorillard Wolfe, Oil Painters of America, Audubon Artists, and American Artists Professional League.
